Plant Engineer


The Plant Engineer is responsible for the development and execution of capital projects and will interface with production, purchasing, and logistics in developing the initial project plan and project scope during a project?s life cycle. The Plant Engineer must have advanced PLC troubleshooting skills to manage the maintenance department and all activities in that department including: reactive, preventative and predictive maintenance, planned maintenance shutdowns, maintenance workflow processes, failure defense or maintenance strategy planning, spare parts inventory, and personnel scheduling.?

ESSENTIAL DUTIES


35% Develop a detailed budget for the plant?s annual and 3 year capital expenditures to be presented to the Plant Management team, Corporate Engineering and Finance. Capital project responsibilities include IRR, Non-IRR, and Core Capital expenditures, and contingency funds as needed.



  • The plant engineer will interface with production, maintenance, process engineering, and other functional groups to identify and analyze problems, formulate solutions.

  • The plant engineer will develop long range plans to maintain plant infrastructure and the estimate capital spending requirements.

  • Develop and quantify financial and business justifications to secure capital project funding

  • Utilize Kepner-Tregoe tools such as PPAs to ensure the effectiveness of capital project implementations

  • Control spending within capital project budgets and promote good stewardship of plant resources

  • Track and report Internal Rates of Return for completed capital projects

  • Manage the plant?s capital plan on a monthly basis with cross functional support from other departments.?


10% ?? Develop and maintain the plants maintenance work flow system (work identification, planning, scheduling, execution and auditing). Champion the plants Storeroom inventory and spare parts spending.


10% ?? Development of plans that identify a prioritized maintenance strategy for all plant equipment. Update planning based on failures or other scenarios as needed. Optimize the Maintenance department?s utilization of preventive and predictive maintenance techniques as defined in the equipment plans.


5% ???? Manage the plants Maintenance budget and performance objectives (Uptime % & OEE). Ensure Maintenance resources are providing the proper support for production departments in partnership with the Maintenance Supervisor.


5% ???? Own the process for providing performance evaluation and feedback to hourly staff, in partnership with the Maintenance Supervisor.


5% ???? Provide root cause analysis for all electrical, instrumentation, and mechanical issues that cause downtime of two hours or more to occur.? Solutions to identified root causes include both short term and long term options including updating the maintenance strategy as needed. Serve as a technical advisor in the identification, analysis, and elimination of common-cause lost time and scrap events (both process and equipment related)


10% ?? Manage the down-day planning, prioritization, and execution process by partnering with Maint. Dept. resources, Production and Process Engineering. Manage the Plant?s annual shutdown planning and execution.


15 % ? Environment, Health, and Safety



  • Ensure Safety by Design in all projects

  • Support and facilitate the continued development of the Job Safety Analysis, Standard Operating Procedure and Lockout/Tagout databases.

  • Ensure all applicable SOPs and JSAs are updated with all capital process and/or equipment changes.

  • Champion and update as needed the EHS Management Practice sections for the plant Maintenance and Engineering department responsibilities as defined.

  • Utilize the MOC system for all capital projects and facility changes that impact EH&S systems

  • Participate in HAZOP studies and complete assigned action items

  • Partner with FM Global an annual site audit visit.


5% ???? Perform other duties as assigned


Technical knowledge/skills (entry, intermediate, advanced)



  • Advanced knowledge of manufacturing analysis tools

  • Advanced knowledge of engineering fundamentals including machine design, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical systems, bearings, lubrication, VFDs and PLCs.

  • Advanced ability to read technical documentation and drawings

  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Project)

  • Intermediate ability to translate technical data into a format/ language suitable for personnel

  • Intermediate skills in process hazard analysis and process safety management

  • Strong working knowledge of project management processes and systems?


Education/Experience



  • Bachelor degree in Chemical, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering

  • 5-10 years demonstrated engineering experience in a manufacturing environment; 5 years of Maintenance experience; 2 years of supervisory experience.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
