Payroll Coordinator

Summary
Provides support in functional areas of payroll including but not limited to processing employee payroll and maintaining payroll records. Assist with the development/implementation of Payroll and Human Resources policies and procedures that affect each department. Prepare reports in conformance with Accounting/Organization needs. Each Payroll Coordinator works closely with the Payroll Supervisor and with their HR Generalist and processors to promote an efficient, effective and a timely payroll process.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Duties may include the following: (others may be assigned)
Participates in developing department goals, objectives and systems.
Field all employee questions regarding payroll.
Participate in administrative staff meetings and attend additional training for professional development.
Enter payroll data into payroll database for wages, tax exemptions, benefit deductions etc.
Recommends new approaches, policies and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of department and services performed.
Compile various reports from the payroll system as determined by operational/organizational needs.
Prepare confidential payrolls and protect employees' and the company's confidential information.
Administer wage garnishments in compliance with state and federal law.
Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required:
2 ? 5 years of Payroll experience preferred.
High School diploma/GED.
Degree in related field preferred but not required.
Basic understanding of payroll concepts, policies, and administrative procedures.
Demonstrated ability to provide the highest level of customer service to internal and external customers.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and attention to detail.
Strong skill in MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Strong written and oral communication skills including professional telephone etiquette.
Ability to work in a team environment.
Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion.
Ability to multi-task, manages a fluctuating workload, and work independently with little or no supervision.
Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
Must possess valid driver's license and be eligible to drive a company vehicle according to Select's insurance guidelines.
Typing of 40 wpm (minimum).
Physical Demands
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Involves sitting at a desk for extended periods of time.
Manual dexterity to operate specialized equipment.
Needs high degree of concentration in a busy area.
Work Environment
Traditional Monday through Friday, 8 ? 5 pm.
Overtime as required.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
